INT. WHITMORE ESTATE - GRAND FOYER - EVENING
The grand double doors crash open. Rain streams outside, but ARTHUR WHITMORE (70s, silver hair, commanding presence) stands in the doorway like an impending storm, holding little LILY (7) by her hand. MARCUS and ELENA (30s) stand right behind them.
The string quartet cuts off mid-note. The chatter of two hundred wealthy guests dies into dead silence.
DIANE (50s, pristine) and CLARE (20s, in her lavish bride gown) freeze near the alter, champagne glasses suspended in mid-air.
DIANE (Gasping, voice low) Arthur... what is the meaning of this? You're ruining Clare’s moment!
Arthur doesn't answer her. He walks briskly to the front podium, his heavy leather shoes echoing off the marble floor. He picks up the golden wedding program resting on the velvet pedestal.
He unfolds it slowly. The camera zooms in on the printed text: Flower Girl: Beatrice Vance.
Arthur looks up, his blue eyes cold as ice.
ARTHUR (Voice booming through the hall) Fifty years ago, I built this family on honor. I built this estate so my children and grandchildren would always have a place of safety and love.
He turns to Clare, holding up the program.
ARTHUR (CONT'D) So tell me, Clare... since when do we replace our own blood because someone else 'matches the photographs better'?
Gasps ripple through the crowd. Guests exchange shocked glances. Clare’s face drains of all color.
CLARE (Stammering) Dad... it was just... the aesthetic—
ARTHUR Aesthetic?
Arthur turns to Diane, his gaze slicing through her.
ARTHUR (CONT'D) And you, Diane. You turned your own granddaughter away at the steps like trash. A seven-year-old child who practiced for six months just to scatter petals for her family.
DIANE (Flustered, trying to save face) Arthur, please! Think of the guests! Think of the press!
ARTHUR I am thinking. And I am ashamed.
Arthur rips the golden wedding program in half. The sharp tear echoes through the silent room. He drops the pieces onto the white aisle runner.
ARTHUR (CONT'D) This celebration is over.
CLARE (Screaming, hysterical) YOU CAN'T DO THIS! THIS IS MY WEDDING!
ARTHUR (Unshaken, deadpan) I paid for this estate, I paid for this caterer, and I paid for that dress. And as of this second, the Whitmore Foundation—and my estate's inheritance—is being rewritten. Neither of you will see a single cent.
Diane clutches her pearls, staggering backward into a chair. Clare drops to her knees, sobbing uncontrollably into her satin train.
Arthur steps down from the podium and walks toward Lily. The cold titan dissolves into a gentle grandfather. He kneels on the marble floor, completely unbothered by his tailored suit touching the ground.
ARTHUR (CONT'D) (Softly) Lily, my sweet girl.
Lily peeks out from behind Elena, holding her wicker basket tight.
LILY (Tiny voice) Grandpa?
ARTHUR You practiced throwing petals for six months, didn't you?
Lily nods slowly.
Arthur smiles, gesturing to the grand aisle laid out before them.
ARTHUR (CONT'D) Then this aisle belongs to you. Show me how you do it.
Lily looks at her mother. Elena nods through her tears, giving a soft smile.
Lily steps forward onto the white runner. With a tiny, brave smile, she reaches into her basket and throws a handful of white rose petals into the air.
Marcus and Elena step beside Arthur, holding hands. As Lily walks down the aisle alone, scattering petals over the ruined wedding of the people who hurt her, Arthur wraps a warm, protective arm around Elena’s shoulders.
ARTHUR (CONT'D) (Whispering to Elena) Let's go home, sweetheart. Real family waits outside.
The camera tracks Lily’s smiling face as she tosses the last handful of petals, leaving the quieted mansion behind for good.
