The doors are locked, and the prey is trapped. Watch the final twist unfold!
A thin trickle of blood coursed down Victoria’s lip, dark and stark against her pale skin.
Behind her, Julian laughed, a sharp, arrogant sound that echoed off the gilded walls of the grand ballroom. He stepped closer, his tuxedo immaculate, his eyes gleaming with malicious satisfaction. He truly believed he had won. He believed he had backed her into a corner, stripped away her dignity, and left her completely helpless before high society.
Are you still waiting for someone to save you? Julian taunted, his voice dripping with venom. Look around. You’re alone.
Victoria didn’t turn. She lowered the phone from her ear, her expression unreadable, her dark eyes cold as ice.
Dad, she whispered quietly into the receiver, her voice calm despite the crimson stain on her chin. Lock every exit. Don’t let a single soul leave.
Julian scoffed, stepping toward the double doors of the ballroom to call his security guards. He grabbed the heavy brass handles and pushed.
Nothing happened.
He slammed his weight against them, rattling the solid wood, but the heavy bolts clicked securely into place from the outside. Panic flickered across his face. He turned back, his arrogant smirk instantly evaporating.
What have you done? he demanded, pulling frantically at the handles. Open them!
The music stopped. The aristocratic guests in the hall froze, whispering anxiously as heavy metallic locks echoed down every corridor, sealing every window and grand archway. The elite of the city were now trapped.
Victoria slowly stepped forward, her black evening gown gliding over the polished marble floor. She stood under the central chandelier, bathed in soft light, radiating an undeniable, intimidating authority.
She walked directly up to Julian, stopping inches from his face. She looked down at him, her gaze piercing through his crumbling composure.
Those doors weren’t meant to keep danger out, Victoria whispered, her voice smooth, low, and deadly. They were used to keep you in.
Julian took an involuntary step back, his throat dry, his hands trembling as he realized the horrific truth. The entire gala was a setup. She was never his victim.
Victoria leaned in, her eyes sharp as glass.
You’re not the hunter anymore, she murmured. You’re the prey.
