Here is the sequel.
EXT. PHARMACY - CONTINUOUS
[CAMERA ANGLE: CLOSE-UP - ADRIAN’S EYES]
Adrian’s breath hitches. He slowly kneels again, bringing himself down to her eye level, keeping his hands open and non-threatening.
ADRIAN
(Softly, voice trembling)
I do want something. I want to save his life... and yours.
He pulls out a thick black leather wallet, pulls out every bill inside, and lays it gently on the glass counter without looking at Daniel.
ADRIAN
(To Daniel)
Ring up the formula. Ring up everything in this store that can keep a child warm and fed.
Daniel stares at the stack of cash, then at Adrian’s pale, haunted face. He nods silently and grabs the bottle, scanning it.
[CAMERA SWANKS TO THE GIRL]
The girl’s defensive posture shifts slightly, her wide blue eyes darting from the money to Adrian.
GIRL
(Skeptical)
Why are you doing this? Nobody helps for free.
ADRIAN
Because seven years ago, I gave that bracelet to a baby boy named Milo. A baby I was told died before I ever got to bring him home.
The girl freezes. Her knuckles turn white around the baby blanket.
GIRL
(Whispering)
You’re... you’re the man in the picture.
Adrian stops breathing.
ADRIAN
What picture?
The girl reaches deep into the oversized pocket of her worn jacket. With trembling fingers, she pulls out a faded, water-damaged photograph.
[CAMERA ANGLE: INSERT - THE PHOTOGRAPH]
It shows Adrian and his late wife, Lena, smiling outside a snowy cabin. But standing next to Lena in the picture—her arm wrapped around Lena's waist—is a woman with the exact same light-brown hair and blue eyes as the young girl standing in the pharmacy.
ADRIAN
(Staring at the photo, in total shock)
Lena’s sister... Clara? She disappeared eight years ago...
GIRL
My mother told me if anything ever happened to her, I had to find the man with the initials A.V. She said... she said she stole Milo from the hospital to protect him from you. But on her deathbed yesterday... she told me the truth.
Adrian’s heart drops into his chest.
ADRIAN
Protect him from me? What are you talking about?
GIRL
She didn't steal him from you, Mr. Vale. She stole him from the people who were paying your company to make him disappear. And my mom said... they're coming for him tonight.
Outside the pharmacy window, through the heavy rain, headlights suddenly cut through the dark. A black SUV pulls up to the curb, idling quietly.
The automatic doors BEEP as they begin to slide open.
FADE TO BLACK.
