Here is the drama unfolding behind closed doors.

Antonio steps into the damp, stone-walled corridor. Soft sunlight filters down from a glass ceiling above a sunken indoor courtyard filled with wilted green vines.

Sitting on a stone bench in the center of the hidden garden is a frail woman with silver-streaked hair, clutching an old watercolor painting.

ANTONIO

(Voice trembling, gun lowering)

...Mother?

[CAMERA QUICK-PAN TO THE WOMAN]

The woman turns slowly. Her eyes—the exact same shade of dark brown as Antonio’s—fill with tears.

ISABELLA

Antonio... You’ve grown so much.

ANTONIO

(Shocked, stepping closer)

My father told me you died in a car crash... twenty-eight years ago. I was seven.

ISABELLA

(Softly, looking at the stone walls)

Your father locked me away here the night I tried to take you and leave his empire. He couldn't let the world see his wife abandon him. He let you believe I was dead.

Lily steps up beside Antonio, reaching out to gently touch his hand.

LILY

See? I told you she was crying. But she said if I painted your face with colors, you would come find her.

Antonio drops to his knees. The gun slips from his fingers onto the stone floor as he looks up at his mother, the brutal mafia boss breaking down in tears for the first time in his life.

ANTONIO

(Voice breaking)

Twenty-eight years... in the dark.

ISABELLA

(Reaching out, touching the painted sun on his cheek)

Not anymore, my son.

[CAMERA ANGLE: WIDE SHOT - THE HIDDEN GARDEN]

Marcus and Daniel stand guard at the entrance in total, reverent silence. Antonio wraps his arms around his mother, holding her tight, while Lily smiles warmly, holding up her paintbrush.

LILY

Now the garden has green again.
