Here is the conclusion, everyone
Here is a tense, dramatic conclusion for your story:
“She said the money never came,” Sarah whispered, tears finally spilling past her lashes. “She said your contract was canceled, that you were barely surviving overseas. She told me if Jamie and I didn’t work off our room and board by cleaning the mansion, she’d put us on the street.”
A wave of gasps rippled through the dining room. Several guests shifted uncomfortably, while Gertrude’s face flushed a deep, furious red.
“She lied,” Daniel said softly, turning back to his mother. “I sent the money every single month. To you, because I trusted you to manage the property while I was gone.”
“I put that money into this house!” Gertrude snapped, abandoning her polite facade. “I maintained your status! I entertained the people who matter! Do you think this lifestyle pays for itself? I am your mother, Daniel. This mansion is my home, and I will run it as I see fit!”
Daniel reached into his heavy duffel bag, pulled out a thick leather folder, and tossed it onto the center of the feast table, knocking over a crystal wine glass.
“You’re wrong, Gertrude. It was never your home,” Daniel said, his voice dropping into a deadly calm. “I didn’t just send living expenses while I was away. I bought out the deed. The property, the land, and every piece of furniture inside are registered solely under two names.”
He pointed at the document lying open on the table.
“Sarah Bennett and Jamie Mercer.”
Gertrude stumbled back, her hand flying to her pearls. “What?”
“I knew how you treated Sarah before I left,” Daniel continued, wrapping his arm around his wife and lifting his son into his grip. “So before I boarded that flight five years ago, I put the entire estate into my wife’s name. You aren’t the matriarch of this mansion, Gertrude. You’re a tenant.”
He looked at the shocked guests, then at his sister and mother.
“You have until sunrise to pack your things and get out of my wife’s house.”
