Here is Part 2.
An eerie, heavy silence hangs in the crisp autumn air. ARTHUR (60s) stands frozen, his gaze locked onto EMMA (9).
The SUITED MAN'S jaw drops. He looks back and forth between Emma and Arthur in utter disbelief.
SUITED MAN Sir... Daniel Hart? You don't mean—
ARTHUR (voice trembling) Daniel was my son.
Emma blinks, stepping back toward the stone wall in shock.
EMMA Your son? But... my dad didn't have any family left. My mom said—
ARTHUR Your mother told you the truth based on what she knew. Daniel and I had a falling out ten years ago... over money, over pride, over a company I built that consumed my entire life.
Tears finally well in Arthur's weathered eyes, cutting through his hardened exterior.
ARTHUR (CONT'D) When he left, I was too proud to follow. By the time I tried to find him... he was gone. I spent a decade believing I had no one left in this world.
SUITED MAN (softly) Mr. Chairman... the board members were trying to freeze out Daniel's estate from the trust. They claimed there were no direct heirs.
Arthur turns to the Suited Man, his eyes flashing with lethal authority.
ARTHUR And they thought I was losing my mind while I sat out here searching for my son's memory. Call the board. Tell them the entire Hale-Hart Enterprise fortune—every share, every asset—transfers to Daniel's only child today.
The Suited Man bows his head immediately.
SUITED MAN Right away, sir.
The Suited Man steps aside, quickly dialing his phone.
Arthur turns back to Emma. He slowly drops to one knee, ignoring the dirt staining his worn trousers. He holds up the remaining half of the peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
ARTHUR For years, people wanted my money, my influence, my legacy. But you... you gave me the only thing that ever truly mattered. You gave me kindness when you had nothing left to give.
EMMA (whispering) You're my grandfather...
ARTHUR (smiling through tears) I am, Emma. And if you'll let me... I'd like to spend the rest of my life making sure you and your mother never go hungry again.
A warm sunset breaks through the autumn trees, bathing the schoolyard in golden light. Emma steps forward and wraps her tiny arms around Arthur's neck.
Arthur closes his eyes, holding his granddaughter tightly against his chest.
