SCENE START

INT. DINING ROOM - CONTINUOUS

The room is silent except for the faint hum of the television.

OFFICER ROBERT VANCE sits frozen at the dinner table, his coffee mug poised halfway to his mouth. On the TV screen, footage plays of the chaotic blizzard rescue, clearly featuring Vance himself pulling people into safety.

The news anchor on TV continues:

NEWS ANCHOR (V.O.) "...Officer Vance’s quick thinking and bravery saved over a dozen stranded travelers before emergency crews could reach the pass."

Around the dinner table, the other officers and guests stare at the TV, then slowly turn their eyes toward Vance in disbelief.

A young officer next to Vance breaks the silence, pointing at the TV and grinning widely.

YOUNG OFFICER "Wait... Vance? Is that you? You said you just went out to 'grab something from your truck'!"

Vance slowly sets his coffee mug down, a slight, awkward smile forming on his face as he rubs the back of his neck.

OFFICER VANCE (Deadpan) "Well... traffic was worse than I expected."

The entire room erupts into lighthearted laughter and warm applause.

The senior commander at the head of the table raises his wine glass toward Vance.

SENIOR COMMANDER "To Officer Vance. A man of few words... and apparently, a full-time hero on his dinner break."

Everyone clinks their glasses together. Vance takes a sip of his coffee, looking humbled as the camera slowly pulls back, capturing the cozy holiday gathering contrasted with the snow falling softly outside the window.
