The paper grocery bags lie spilled on the grass—apples, bread, and flowers scattered around SARAH’s feet. Her hands tremble as tears well up in her eyes.

ETHAN stands frozen on the pathway, holding the open wallet. He takes a slow, shaky step forward, his voice barely a whisper.

(Stammering, eyes wide)

Sarah...? No... how? They told me you were gone... seven years ago...

LINA looks back and forth between the strange man in the blue suit and her mother, completely confused.

Mommy? Do you know this man?

Why, Sarah? After the accident... your brother Alex told me you didn't survive. I buried an empty casket! I’ve carried your picture in my pocket every single day!

Alex steps forward, his expression solemn but relieved.

ALEX

The cartel leaders were arrested in Chicago last night, Ethan. It’s over. I was coming to tell Sarah today... but it looks like fate got here first.

Ethan grips Alex’s shoulder firmly—a silent moment of forgiveness and brotherhood.

Ethan turns back to Sarah and Lina. He picks up Lina with one arm and pulls Sarah close under the golden hour light, wrapping his coat around them.

ETHAN

(Looking at Sarah with absolute devotion)

No more hiding. No more lost years. We’re going home—together.

Sarah smiles through her tears and kisses Ethan softly as Lina giggles, wrapping her arms around both of them.
